Why Not Play Golf?
Golf is a fascinating game!
If you look at it conceptually it is easy. You play with a stationary ball into 18 holes with a walk of about 5 to 6 kilometres. Sounds simple doesn't it?
There are just a few challenges along the way such as trees, water, bunkers, hazards, ball landing in divots, balls in the rough, ball in the deep long grass, swails in the green, wind, rain and I haven't even mentioned the golf swing yet.
Even though the golf swing can be made to be complex by various coaches, teachers and people teaching themselves, it can be simple if you apply simple methods to your swing. The swing in basic terms is address the ball take the club back whilst turning your hips in the same direction as the club is going, hit the ball and follow through.
The main elements of your swing are:
•Grip
•Posture
•Stance
•Alignment
•Posture
•Stance
•Alignment
Of course then is the swing movements too. But if you get the above fundamentals correct first you are half way there.
I see too many people who just don't get these basic fundamentals correct and then wonder why their swing doesn't work. The best thing I can suggest with your swing is to make sure you get the basics right first then work on the rest. That is step one!
Other exciting things about why to play golf is you really learn about yourself out on the course and the people you play with. You have about four hours with them on the course and four hours of getting to know you.
So what things does playing a round of golf bring up about your personality and you?
Well it shows the following;
•Your confidence in yourself
•How much you can focus when playing your shot
•Be honest with yourself about your score
•Believing in yourself
•Trusting yourself
•Stepping outside your comfort zone, golf will do that to you all the time
•Put's things in perpective
•Shows consistency, if you practice the right way it will
•Tests your patience
•Shows you your strengths
•And does show you your weaknesses
•It constantly tests you, for each move you make

Doesn't that remind you of something?
It reminds me of life.
Golf does test you every step of the way but so does life.
And that's a fantastic thing to learn about golf as teaches you so much more than just a skill.
