How To Purchase Golf Clubs

Let's start buy looking for clubs that are right for you. We all have different abilities in terms of strength, flexibility, and talent. The first thing you want to look for is the correct flex in the shaft. You'll need to speak with someone to determine your best fit by telling them how you swing. In general, if you swing extremely hard and hit long you would want a stiffer shaft. If you swing medium, you would need a medium shaft, and if your swing is easy, you need a whippier shaft. The shaft should bend and help you a little. You don't want the shaft to be so stiff that it doesn't help you at all, and conversely you don't want the shaft to be so whippy that when your hands are in front of you and the club hasn't come down yet. That is the most important part in selecting your clubs.
In terms of the clubs themselves, every club has a different angle at the bottom. A nine iron will have the steepest angle, and as the numbers get lower, the angle becomes less great. The driver has the least angle. So this poses the question as to why the different angles. It's actually very simple; you want to learn to have one golf swing, and hit the ball different distances. Let's say as an example, you are one hundred and fifty yards from the hole and find that the best club for you to hit one hundred and fifty yards, is a five iron. When you get to one hundred and twenty yards away from the hole, instead of hitting the five iron easier, maintain your regular golf swing and use a lower club like an eight iron. It will loft the ball more and go a shorter distance. In fairway play, the less of the angle on the club will give you greater distance on the ball. Remember you want to learn one swing and hit the ball different distances. So how do you know how far you want to hit the ball to reach the green? On most courses there are plates in the ground that show one hundred and twenty five yards, one hundred and fifty yards, and two hundred yards, etc. Some courses are more specific with yardages.
The reason you want different clubs, is so that you can learn one swing, and learn the distances that you hit each club. That way you will play your best golf!
