Introduction
Similar to the Burner 2.0 irons, but the TaylorMade R11 irons however have some technology built into them that the Burner irons do not. Its ultra thin face makes the iron feel lighter than the other clubs TaylorMade manufactures, and its weight distribution is different. TaylorMade claims that they also built in some technology that the driver has, which will allow the iron to be tuned to your swing. Its inverted cone expands the sweet spot, which helps beginners and average golfers with their swing.
Overview
If you can afford it then this iron is the one for you. It is very easy to hit, and the feel and impact is even better. The expanded sweet spot allows off-center hits to go straight and long. An experienced golfer may deem its workability a little less than what he would want. But nevertheless this iron is a welcome addition to your golf club set. Its lighter feel will allow you to swing easier, without affecting the distance that you might have been used to. If you are looking to improve your game and take it to the next level, then these irons will definitely help.
The Good
Beginning golfers or golfers who seek to move to the next level will really benefit from its expanded sweet spot. Even the experienced golfers can use these clubs to hit consistently straight shots. The distance is comparable to the Burner 2.0 irons, but the feel and sound are totally different, which makes this iron a lot better. The irons cut through the rough a lot easier than the other TaylorMade irons. This is probably because of the thinner face and weight distribution.
The Bad
One big downside for these irons are their price. At an MSRP of $999 for steel shafts and an additional $100 for graphite shafts, many golfers will be turned off by the price. Because of its larger sweet spot, some of the more experienced golfers tend to think that this is not the club they'd want to spend so much money on because of its limitations when working the ball.
Bottom Line
If you have the money, these are an improvement over any of the other irons TaylorMade has on the market, beside the RocketBallz irons. These clubs will help beginning golfers transition to average golfers and average golfers transition to a lower-handicap golfer. Experienced golfers that like straight shots will also like these irons.
