Just give me the chance to write a tip in any golf magazine for hitting the ball off the tee with any driver and I guarantee you it won't be conventional. Quick fixes may work in the short-term, but that's about it. You want a long-term fix that's going to impact your game for years to come; besides all those tips are simply mind-boggling. They require you to remember this and that and be sure and do this or that at the same time your clinching your teeth just tight enough not to get lock-jaw.
If you really want something long-term you've got to look at yourself. Your body is in a certain shape whether you're talking physical conditioning or actual shape: anywhere from thin to rotund, from a muscular build to few muscles to speak of. Getting more distance on your balls of the tee come down to one thing and that's club head speed. That usually means the more balls you hit on the driving range and/or the more lessons you take is not going to give you more distance off the tee.
The only way you're getting more distance off the tee by increasing club head speed is by strengthening your body rotation and its flexibility. Your body core is the center of your swing and if it's weak or broken (so-to-speak), you won't get the distance you so desire.
If you'll just think of the golf swing, you'll realize that in its simplest form it is turning back and then turning through. Now doesn't it make sense to improve your ability to rotate back and through quicker to get that increased golf head speed? My friend, if you can do that, you've just won the lottery to impressing the guys (and gals) with longer drives.
There are easy and very effective exercises you can do in home or office to crank up that club head speed for longer driving distances. Okay, how about one you can do in your office chair? Sit flat-footed with a straight back and cross your arms in front of your chest. Keep your shoulders back and your head straight forward and rotate your shoulders back and forth slowly. Can you go very far? Gradually increase the speed of your rotation and continue for 25 repetitions. You'll slowly notice how you'll loosen up around your body core and you can go faster and farther the more you perform the exercise.
Combine this simple exercise with simple stretches and other easy to perform exercises you will find in golf magazines that will be very helpful. Just don't get bogged down with all the tips. The stretches and exercises they demonstrate are good for your game and for your body.
Okay, continue to do these exercises on a regular basis and watch that ball gradually sail farther and farther each time out on the course. Now I didn't talk about swing mechanics as I assumed that you're hitting the ball consistently straight down the fairway so you don't want to mess with the mechanics at all. You just want to increase your club head speed without forcing it. With these exercises that can be done naturally and gradually.
