Why Do We Need To Fix a Golf Slice?

What is a golf slice, you may ask? Well, a golf slice is a common mistake while playing golf. This happens when the ball ends up in an unintentional trajectory that is completely opposite of what is expected. There is also a mistake called a "fade", this is just a less extreme version of a slice.
What Are The Causes of Golf Slice
Based on the basics of a golf swing, the ball must be hit squarely and straight every time, this is done by returning to the original spot at impact. A slice is caused when the club face is open and didn't hit face on to the golf ball. This usually causes the ball to spin in a clockwise or counterclockwise motion, depending whether the golfer is a rightie or a leftie. Also, it can be caused by errors in the swing speed and shaft stiffness.
How Can A Golf Slice Be Fixed?
The first thing one could check to fix a slice is by assessing a golfer's grip. A weak grip can cause the club face to open on impact. For lefties, start by turning your grip to the right; however, the exact opposite goes for righties, and this will, in turn, give you a stronger grip. Take note that a stronger grip doesn't necessarily mean to hold the club tightly. Only hold it tight enough to keep your control. Tension is not a good idea when playing golf so don't hold it tightly.
Next, check your swing speed. You may increase you swing speed by pulling the club further back. Increasing your swing speed may even gain you around 30 yeards over your old swings. Just make sure not to bend over too far and always followthrough on your swing. Again, a follow through will remove any unwanted tension that might slice your game. In order to confidently do so, just point the label on the ball in the direction where you want it to go. This way no tension will happen because there will be no need for you to look up.
Finally, just remember your basics. You have to stand straight, bend your knees slightly, keep your feet shoulder width, etc. All of these are just basics but they are indeed very important that's why they are the very first things taught to you on your first lesson as a golfer.
I hope this will help fix your golf slice. But aside from this article, always make it a point to practice your skills as well. Just start correcting your basics and the rest will follow.
Whether a beginner or a master, golf slice correction can start by knowing the basics. Improving on it will continue to help you become a better golfer. But knowing is not all either, learning all the golf shots techniques will not be enough without practice.
