Having a perfect golf game is very demanding but one sure way to making this possible would be by correcting your golf slice. Sure, just like any other golf strategy, this would entail a long process. But by putting even just a little effort into it, you would be in your A game sooner than you think. So, here are some tips on correcting a slice.
There are countless issues that can lead to a slice, but the most common cause happens during address. It's rather usual for a golfer to prefer a square stance at address. This happens when the feet, hips and shoulders are in line with the target, the golf ball, of course. Now, if you move your left foot too far frontward, the club will cause the ball to fly to the right. So, it is best to keep the left foot under the left shoulder. The same basically holds true for both the hips and shoulders.
Next up, let's focus more on correcting your grip. This is a mistake commonly done by new players. A golfer must not grasp the club too tightly. This can cause the club's head to open as it strikes and will make the ball fly to the right. Aside from not grasping the club too tightly, a player must also remember not to do the exact opposite, grip it too loose. In this case, the head will wobble on impact and can lead to slicing as well.
In other words, you grip must be neutral, not too loose but not too tight either. You can check your grip by looking down at it. Upon holding your club, you should be able to see at least two of your left-hand knuckles. If you can't see any knuckles, then you are not gripping correctly.
Aside from that, keep in mind that as your hands come back to hit the ball, they usually rotate to a different position. Hence, you must rotate your hands, and not the club. Rotate it until you see a couple of knuckles.
Also, when correcting a slice, swing tempo is very important. Golfers often have the tendency to use their arms as power source to get a few extra yards. However, once they get to backswing, they change the power source by using their hands to take over and lead the downsing. Hence, making the club face very open.
A swing must be smooth and relax from start to finish. You must let your hips do the job. Let it start the downswing and surely everything else will follow.
