The Good and the Bad of the Ping i15 Irons

Introduction

Ping is known for its quality irons and the Ping i15 are no different. They are not as good as the S-series irons the PGA professionals use, but these are very useful clubs for experienced golfers. According to Ping, the irons are slightly larger so that it would be easier to strike the ball. These clubs are specifically designed for the more experienced golfers, but even so, the i15 irons have a lot of technology that the G15 irons have, such as the forgiveness. The design of these irons make the shot feel silky smooth and makes it feel like you are slicing butter upon impact.
Overview
With it being one of the better designs Ping has released, accuracy is what these Ping i15 irons have. These irons help the golfer when he needs to work the ball flight in order to hit the green and get the ball close to the hole. It will get you more distance, and even maintains the same launch angle as you would with the G15 irons. Since Ping designed these clubs for specifically the experienced golfer, the workability of the clubs is one of the best to come out in years. The i15 irons are made with less weight in the center, and the since the weight is redistributed toward the toe of these irons, they give the experienced golfer more forgiveness than they are accustomed to. The value of these irons varies from $799 for steel shafts to $899 for graphite shafts. You can have them for as little as $599 for the steel shaft 15 irons though in some golf club retailers if they have them on sale.
The Good
The Ping has manufactured some great irons in the past and the main difference of the i15 is its feel. You get a lot of feedback from the irons when you don't hit the sweet spot. The irons can even give you more of a true flight even if you mishit the clubs. These clubs are also better options for Medium-handicap golfers because of the extra forgiveness they provide. Ping removed a lot of the offset in the shorter irons, which makes them easier to control when approaching the green. You will hit more accurate shots because you can easily feel the club head throughout the swing and it will enable you to adjust the offset on the mid to long irons which will give you more accurate shots.
The Bad
The Ping i15 iron is one of the better clubs in the market right now and there is very little dislike about these irons. The only real problem is the offset on the mid to long irons, a golfer will have a tendency to pull the clubs to the left because of the offset. But once you get used to it, the irons work really well. It is mainly for the experienced golfer, so it is not advisable to buy them if you are a beginner, high handicapper, or starting to move into the mid-handicap level of play.
Bottom Line
If you have a experience and want a club that you can work the ball, then these are the irons for you. However, if you are beginning golfer, stay away from this iron. Beginning golfers need to learn shot making ability and how to strike the ball better before using these irons. Even though these irons have more of a sweet spot and are more forgiving than the i10 irons Ping manufactures, the beginning golfer will find them hard to hit consistently.
These are specifically designed for the experienced golfer, so if you are one then these are the irons for you. If you are however, a beginning golfer, then it is wise to avoid this iron. Beginners need to learn shot making ability and how to strike the ball better before they can use these irons. Despite it being more forgiving and having more of a sweet spot than the i10 irons, the beginning golfer will have a more difficult time trying to hit it consistently.
